OUR STORY
OUR
FOUNDER
While volunteering with Marie Curie, our founder, Bronagh O’Neill, a trained nurse, discovered that many of her patients were unable to continue caring for their pets during treatment, or as their health declined. Many were also worried about what would happen to their pet if, or after, they passed away. Bronagh found this caused an immense amount of guilt, distress and worry for them - at a time when they were already so vulnerable.
They were afraid they would have to give up their best friend, and so many refused to have medical treatment rather than be apart from their pets.
Rosie’s Trust was established in 2015
to prevent this from happening.
WE ARE THE ONLY CHARITY IN NORTHERN IRELAND THAT CARES FOR BOTH PEOPLE AND THEIR PETS
Our network of 200+ highly trained volunteers help with the practical elements of looking after pets, so their owners can focus on looking after themselves with the peace of mind that their pet is healthy, happy and by their side when they need them most. In the case of hospitalisation or end-of-life care, our dedicated short-term and long-term fostering service is there to ensure their best friend will always be well looked after.
Through this, we are helping to preserve the special bond between people and their pets through difficult times, preventing unnecessary hardship and suffering.
